ABOUT SHREW FLORIST:

Shrew Florist began in mid 2004, with the band starting as a trio consisting of Gerry Stumbaugh, Jared Butler, and Cory Thrall. in a flash of a few months of weekly Monday-night jamming, they recorded 5 albums worth of material - most of it still in the "vaults", unreleased. the first Shrew release was the online album "Roses", and that album received some great reviews. in 2005 the Shrew took a small break, being replaced on the weekly schedule by some of the member's new project, Suspicious Bundle of Trash. a few months later, as SBOT was winding down and breaking up, Gerry returned to the scene, jamming in a few of the last SBOT recordings. from then on the Shrew was back and BACK IN ACTION!!!
Soon after the sorta "rebirth" of the Shrew, they were graced with a new member - Veronica! she quickly became a major piece to the Shrew's complete puzzle, and the sound was rounded out really well! a good number of jams took place in the following months, until Veronica had to move to San Francisco, which she did and lives there now (Veronica is still an active and current member of Shrew Florist - in the recording/jamming as well as in the line-up for live version of the band, so no worries there!). A good lot of jams later, our friend Nicole joined us for a jam one Monday night, as she was very interested in what we were doing. immediately after this initial jam, Nicole joined the band officially! she rocked out with the Shrew for a good while, and then she was called to Europe, where she is still traveling now! the Shrew now becoming a 3 piece again (at least as far as regular weekly jams went) with Gerry, Jared, and Cory! then out of nowhere Jared decided he had to move up North soon (to the Seattle, WA Area), where his son Kyle (and his son's Mother, Jared's ex-girlfriend) had just moved. so, soon (around Springtime 2008) Jared will also be gone and the Shrew will be just Gerry, Veronica, Cory and our newest member of the Shrew - Eli! we'll see what happens from there......should be awesome, interesting, fun fun fun......!!!
Shrew Florist played their very first live set on March 18th, 2007, at the Sacramento Audio Waffle series of shows (we were a part of #15), and that set featured Gerry, Jared, Nicole (before she moved), and Cory. the Shrew crew's 2nd live appearance was at a Godwaffle Noise Pancakes show in San Francisco on July 21st 2007, and this jam featured Gerry, Jared, Veronica, and Cory. the third show was at a house party in our hometown of Santa Rosa, Ca., and that jam featured a special line-up. with Cory and Veronica being joined by Travis Thrall (Cory's brother, and a member of drinking coffee from counselor troi's head, as well as the Tron Cycle), and Ken Lantz (member of troi, as well, and the drummer for the band the drone.). the fourth show was a really fun set at 2007's NorCal Noisefest in Sacramento, California! that set featured Jared, Gerry, and Cory! all of our shows have gone really really well so far, and we here at the Shrew crew are really looking forward to future shows, jams, recordings, and releases! so, please - keep comin' on by, eh?
